Devlog 006 – A Map You Can Hold
The original Tides of Madness map was built as a single 11x17 spread. It looks great laid across the table or pinned to the wall. But it’s not exactly friendly to home printers, notebooks, or travel-sized despair.
So, I broke it in half.
New Printable Map – East & West Halves
The new version of the playtest map comes in two US Letter pages (East and West) designed to print at 100% and connect cleanly side by side.
It’s the same sprawling sea of lost ports, cursed currents, and fading lighthouses—just easier to handle.
You’ll find both maps in the downloads:
They match perfectly when placed next to each other and still include all key port names, travel routes, and port state keys.
Why Split It?
Tides of Madness is a game about isolation and scarcity. I want the physical materials to match that spirit: simple, functional, printable in black and white, usable by anyone with a cheap printer and a handful of dice.
So this change wasn’t about graphic design. It was about accessibility.
If you’re using the new maps in playtesting, I’d love to hear how they feel on the table.
Do they hold up? Is the scale working? Are any ports getting lost in the fold?
Thanks for staying aboard. More to come.
